PDO Thread Lift

A PDO Thread Lift is a treatment that lifts and tightens sagging skin tissues using threads. PDO Threads are composed by sutures of PDO (Polyoxanone), synthetic and biodegradable material made of polydioxanone. It is the safest suture because it has little bacterial contamination. Then, the PDO suture is converted to water and carbon dioxide and completely absorbed without any residue through the hydrolysis process.

The lifting thread is introduced deep into the layer of the skin and produces three effects:

  • Instant skin lifting through mechanical effects
  • Cellular renewal through collagen stimulation and neovascularization to improve texture, fine lines, and wrinkles
  • Skin tightening by approximating tissues

Threads disappear through hydrolysis after six months. The lifted facial contours can remain for up to two years due to cellular rejuvenation effects.

What is PDO Threading?

PDO threading is a quick, non-surgical option to turn back the clock. Often referred to as the "non-surgical face lift", a PDO thread lift can address issues of sagging without any downtime and with minimal discomfort. Originating from the ancient practice of acupuncture, thread lift therapy is a cosmetic procedure with the primary focus of tightening sagging and aging skin, giving you a more youthful aesthetic. For almost two decades, PDO threading has been used as an anti-aging solution to treat a range of areas including the neck, jawline, marionette line, nasolabial folds, forehead, and upper and lower cheeks. This treatment can also be used to tighten skin on the abdomen, knees, arms and buttocks.

How does it work?

Winkles are mainly caused by loss of skin elasticity, fat, collagen or bone below the skin's surface. PDO threads stimulate collagen production and promote skin tightening and lifting. Botox and Dermal Filler can be used in conjunction with PDO threads for an anti-aging, non-surgical solution to wrinkle correction and prevention.

How long do PDO thread lifts last?

PDO threads should completely dissolve within 6 months post their insertion, leaving behind new collagen in their place with results lasting up to 2 years.

What to expect with PDO threads?

PDO threads are placed under the skin in the subcutaneous fat, resulting in a lifted appearance that can be seen immediately following the treatment. Results will continue to improve in the days and weeks following as the PDO stimulates the collagen in the skin, tightening below the skin's surface, and building a stronger collagen support system within the skin. Additionally, the overall texture of the skin will improve over time by becoming tighter and any fine lines and wrinkles will minimize. PDO threads can also create a three-dimensional, non-invasive face lift with minimal downtime by creating lift and volume to the cheeks, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines. PDO threads work complimentary alongside Botox or Dysport to give the best possible correction for crow's feet, and can be used as a non-surgical option for lifting the brows without cosmetic surgery. At PrimeMD Aesthetics, we are able to create a natural-looking result that is tailored to the individual with the PDO thread lifts unique ability to control and strategically lift sections of the face.

What is the downtime for a PDO thread lift?

The downtime for the PDO thread lift is around two to three days. Like with all procedures, you may experience some bruising, swelling, or mild tension in the areas that were threaded. However, recovery from the treatment is minimal and you are often able to return to work the same day. Additionally, your provider will carefully go over all of your post-care instructions in depth with you following your procedure.

How much does PDO thread list cost?

Your provider will design and discuss a plan for you based on your goals and budget during your appointment, prior to the procedure. Depending on the threads used and quantity/areas of the face, prices start at $250 per area, up to $1800 per area.
